Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Massage Therapy
3 CEUs
Fibromyalgia (FM) and Chronic Fatigue (CF) are complex clinical syndromes characterized by chronic widespread pain and a cluster of other symptoms including anxiety, depression, exhaustion, sleep disturbance, stiffness, and a variety of somatic complaints including unexpected pain and tenderness. In the course of professional practice, Massage Therapists encounter clients who complain of these symptoms. These clients sometimes report seeking multiple assistance from a variety of physicians who were able to provide little or no relief. This continuing education course is designed to assist the massage therapy practitioner to develop a basic understanding of the concept of Fibromyalgia Syndrome, (FMS) and Chronic Fatigue (CF), including the conceptualization, historical context, signs and symptoms, complications, possible triggers, prevalence, causes and risk factors, diagnosis, treatments options, symptom management, research, prognosis, facts and myths, and the benefits of massage therapy as a treatment option. A working knowledge of how massage therapy treatment can minimize or alleviate the impact of the disease process and its symptomology will be considered. ProQuest CE, LLC will report the student’s continuing education units to the state of Florida through CE Broker.
This course meets " General" Florida licensure requirements.
